I’m an author and screenwriter based in the UK. I’ve always had a tremendous interest in the paranormal and I’m currently researching an article about ‘spirit attachments’ for a magazine. Have you had any experiences of being attached, or of removing an attachment from somebody, and what precautions do you take to protect yourselves during an investigation? Any stories you could share, help or advice would be very gratefully received!
To be completely honest with you, I am not 100% a believer in “attachments”. There is so much in this field that cannot be proven, and that is one of them. Since I have started investigating I have gotten to know a lot of not-so-honest folks. And the ones that claim they have an attachment are just trying to get attention, or some use it as an excuse for bad behavior. But I honestly don’t know. I haven’t seen it happen to anyone I am very close with, that I could monitor their behavior enough. My little team and I are not a group of physic ladies. So maybe that is the reason we have not accumulated any attachments. Perhaps we are not physically “open”. Just a thought.
Also, paranormal investigations are not what you see on TV. They are a lot less dramatic…if anything happens at all. What keeps us coming back, is helping families with their homes, and that one bit of evidence that reinstates your belief in the paranormal. But other then that, it’s pretty darn quiet. So as for some sort of ritual or protection, our little team doesn’t do one. We never feel unsafe. Then again, my aunt says she is praying for me every night (because I am dancing with the devil) so maybe that’s enough.
I have been with other teams that say a simple prayer, based on their religion, before an investigation and I am cool with it. I have also seen teams say a parting prayer before we leave.
I do think that spirits can follow you home after an investigation (is that an attachment?) because they can travel anywhere. It has happened to me. But they never stay long, so no harm. So I do make a note to let the spirits know they are not invited home with us and they have to stay where they are. We talk to them like real people, and they seem to respect that.
Anyway, I hope this helps. Feel free to reach out to me any time. Good luck on your adventures!
